Prayer of Repentance, Salvation, and Remembrance of Christ's Sacrifice
Heavenly Father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we come before You during this afternoon watch with hearts filled with reverence and thanksgiving.
As we remember the suffering and sacrifice of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, we acknowledge that our salvation was purchased through His precious blood.
Father, thank You for loving the world so greatly that You gave Your only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Lord Jesus, thank You for bearing our sins upon the cross, for enduring the suffering of Calvary, and for making a way for us to be reconciled unto the Father.
We humble ourselves before You and ask that You search our hearts.
Reveal every area where we have departed from Your commandments. Forgive us for pride, unbelief, disobedience, and every sin that separates our hearts from fellowship with You.
Father, grant us genuine repentance that produces a changed life.
We lift up those who do not know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.
Open their understanding to the truth of the gospel. Remove the blindness that keeps them from recognizing their need for salvation.
We pray for our children, our grandchildren, our relatives, our neighbors, and every person within our sphere of influence who has not surrendered their life to Christ.
Draw them by Your Spirit and surround them with faithful witnesses who will speak the truth in love.
Father, we intercede for those who have wandered away from the faith. Bring Your Word to their remembrance and lead them back into fellowship with You.
We pray for the brokenhearted, the grieving, the imprisoned, the abandoned, and those who feel that their lives have no purpose.
Let them encounter the hope, forgiveness, and new life found in Jesus Christ.
Lord, teach us to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow You daily.
May we never treat lightly the sacrifice that was made for our redemption.
Let the message of the cross remain central to our preaching, our teaching, our prayers, and our daily lives.
We give You thanks for the finished work of Jesus Christ and the promise of eternal life through Him.
In the precious and mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Mark 15:33–34 (KJV) — “And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.” “And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?”
