THE MOUTH GATE

Guard What I Release

Bringing my words and speech under God's authority.

Father, in the name of Jesus, Your Word says, "Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips."

Therefore, establish a watch over my mouth.

Do not allow frustration to make me speak foolishly. Do not allow anger to control my vocabulary. Do not allow fear to become confession. Do not allow offense to become accusation.

Teach me when to speak and when to remain silent.

Let my words carry truth, wisdom, grace, faith, correction, encouragement, and life.

Father, increase my capacity to speak Your Word with boldness.

As the early church prayed in Acts 4 and was filled with boldness, fill me afresh.

When You give me something to say, give me courage to say it.

When You tell me to remain silent, give me discipline to restrain myself.

May my mouth never become a weapon for the flesh when You have ordained it to be an instrument for Your Kingdom.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
