Prayer of Thanksgiving, Repentance, and Protection
Heavenly Father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we come before Your throne of grace as we enter the first watch of the night. We thank You for Your goodness, Your mercy, and Your faithfulness throughout this day.
Father, we acknowledge that without You, we can do nothing. Thank You for every danger You have kept us from, every provision You have made, and every battle You have fought on our behalf.
Lord, as this day comes to a close, we humble ourselves before You. Search our hearts and reveal anything within us that is displeasing in Your sight. Forgive us for every sin committed knowingly or unknowingly, in our thoughts, words, actions, and attitudes.
Create in us a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within us. Let no bitterness, unforgiveness, pride, rebellion, or hidden iniquity find a resting place in our hearts.
Father, we lift up our families, our spouses, our children, our grandchildren, and every member of our household. We ask You to cover them with Your divine protection.
Let Your peace rest upon our homes. Guard every door, every window, and every entrance. Protect our families from violence, sickness, accidents, deception, and every work of darkness.
We pray for those who are homeless, hungry, lonely, and without protection tonight. Provide shelter for the homeless, food for the hungry, comfort for the grieving, and strength for those who are weary.
Lord, prepare our hearts for the watches ahead. Let our homes become dwelling places of Your presence, and let our hearts remain attentive to Your voice.
We surrender every burden, every worry, and every unfinished matter into Your hands.
As the sun sets, let our confidence remain in You, for You neither slumber nor sleep.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
Lamentations 2:19 (KJV) — “Arise, cry out in the night: in the beginning of the watches pour out thine heart like water before the face of the Lord: lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children, that faint for hunger in the top of every street.”
