Daily Evening Prayer of Reflection, Cleansing, Rest, and Abiding

Daily Evening Prayer of Reflection, Cleansing, Rest, and Abiding

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ,

As this day comes to an end, I deliberately turn my heart toward You.

You were with me when this day began, You sustained me throughout this day, and I acknowledge You as the One who has brought me safely to this moment.

Before I close my eyes, before I release the responsibilities of this day, and before I enter into rest, I choose again to abide in You.

Jesus, You are the Vine, and I am a branch.

Everything good that came through my life today came because of Your grace. Every moment I stood, You sustained me. Every temptation I resisted, Your grace strengthened me. Every wise decision I made, Your Spirit helped me. Every door You opened, You opened. Every danger I escaped, whether I recognized it or not, Your mercy preserved me.

Therefore, tonight I say:

Thank You.

Thank You for life. Thank You for strength. Thank You for provision. Thank You for protection. Thank You for correction. Thank You for wisdom. Thank You for mercy. Thank You for every prayer You answered and every danger You prevented.

I will bless the LORD at all times, and even at the conclusion of this day, Your praise shall continually be in my mouth.

FATHER, SEARCH MY DAY

Father, this morning I asked You to search me.

Tonight, I ask You to search me again.

Search my heart and know me. Try me and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Bring this day before me in the light of Your presence.

Show me where I obeyed You.

Show me where I ignored You.

Show me where I moved too quickly.

Show me where I should have moved but hesitated.

Show me where my flesh influenced my response.

Show me where pride entered my heart.

Show me where fear influenced my decisions.

Show me where anger affected my words.

Show me where offense attempted to take root.

Show me where selfish ambition, jealousy, lust, greed, impatience, unbelief, rebellion, or compromise attempted to operate through me.

I do not want to carry into tomorrow what You intended for me to confront today.

Your Word declares that if we confess our sins, You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Therefore, Father, wherever I sinned today—in thought, word, attitude, motive, action, or omission—I confess it before You.

Forgive me.

Wash me.

Cleanse me.

Correct me.

Restore me.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

I refuse to defend what You are correcting.

I refuse to excuse what You are exposing.

I refuse to call weakness what You have called disobedience.

Give me the humility to repent quickly and the grace to change completely.

I RELEASE EVERY OFFENSE

Father, before I sleep, I release every person who offended, disappointed, frustrated, dishonored, misunderstood, rejected, ignored, or wounded me today.

I refuse to allow today's offense to become tomorrow's bitterness.

I will not give anger permission to spend the night in my heart.

Your Word says, "Let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil."

Therefore, I close every door that anger, offense, resentment, and unforgiveness would attempt to open.

I forgive because I have been forgiven.

Where reconciliation is necessary, give me wisdom.

Where a conversation is necessary, give me humility.

Where boundaries are necessary, give me discernment.

Where silence is necessary, give me restraint.

But whatever You require, keep hatred, bitterness, vengeance, and unforgiveness out of my heart.

I RELEASE THIS DAY

Father, I now release everything I cannot change about today.

I release conversations I keep replaying.

I release decisions I keep questioning.

I release opportunities I may have missed.

I release things people said.

I release things people did.

I release unanswered questions.

I release unfinished assignments.

I release disappointments.

I release expectations that were not fulfilled.

I release every burden I was never designed to carry.

Your Word tells me to cast all my care upon You because You care for me.

Therefore, I cast the weight of this day upon You.

What I can correct, give me grace to correct.

What I must learn from, give me wisdom to learn from.

What I must release, give me strength to release.

What I cannot control, I place into Your hands.

I will not take today's anxiety into tomorrow.

EXAMINE THE FRUIT OF MY DAY

Father, this morning I asked You to make my life fruitful.

Tonight, I ask:

What fruit did my life produce today?

Did my words produce life?

Did my decisions reflect wisdom?

Did my relationships demonstrate Christ?

Did my work honor You?

Did my ministry glorify You?

Did my private thoughts agree with my public confession?

Did I demonstrate love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance?

Was someone strengthened because I was present?

Was someone encouraged because I spoke?

Was someone shown Christ because of the way I treated them?

Father, wherever there was good fruit, I give You the glory.

Where there was immature fruit, develop me.

Where there was bad fruit, correct me.

Where there was no fruit, show me why.

And wherever pruning is necessary, prune me.

I would still rather be corrected and fruitful than comfortable and barren.

THANK YOU FOR TODAY'S VICTORIES

Father, I will not end this day only examining what went wrong.

I also remember what You did right.

Thank You for every victory today.

Thank You for every temptation I resisted.

Thank You for every moment I chose obedience.

Thank You for every person I encouraged.

Thank You for every prayer I prayed.

Thank You for every opportunity to serve.

Thank You for every moment Your Word came back to my remembrance.

Thank You for every time the Holy Spirit restrained me from saying something I should not have said.

Thank You for every time You redirected my steps.

Thank You for doors You closed that I wanted opened.

Thank You for doors You opened that I could never have opened myself.

Thank You for protecting me from things I saw and things I never saw.

This is the LORD'S doing, and it is marvelous in my eyes.

COMPLETE WHAT YOU BEGAN TODAY

Father, I place every unfinished matter into Your hands.

There are things I started today that are not yet complete.

There are prayers I prayed that I have not yet seen answered.

There are seeds I planted whose harvest has not yet appeared.

There are conversations that still require resolution.

There are assignments still developing.

But I refuse to become anxious because something is unfinished.

Your Word declares that He which hath begun a good work in me will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Therefore, I trust You with the process.

While I sleep, You are still God.

While I rest, You are still working.

While I am unconscious of what is happening around me, heaven has not lost control.

I release the need to control everything.

GUARD MY NIGHT

Father, as I prepare to sleep, cover me, my household, and everything You have entrusted to me.

Your Word declares:

"I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety."

Therefore, I declare that my home belongs to Jesus Christ.

My body belongs to Jesus Christ.

My mind belongs to Jesus Christ.

My family belongs to Jesus Christ.

My future belongs to Jesus Christ.

My sleep belongs to Jesus Christ.

I reject fear.

I reject torment.

I reject anxiety.

I reject spiritual oppression.

I reject every imagination that attempts to exalt itself against the knowledge of God.

Let the peace of God guard my heart and mind through Christ Jesus.

Give Your angels charge over me according to Your Word, to keep me in all my ways.

Let Your presence rest upon this house.

I declare with the psalmist:

"He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep."

I can sleep because You remain awake.

SANCTIFY MY MIND AS I SLEEP

Father, cleanse my mind from everything I saw, heard, experienced, or encountered today that does not need to remain within me.

Do not allow today's stress to become tonight's meditation.

Do not allow today's offense to become tonight's imagination.

Do not allow today's fear to become tomorrow's expectation.

Whatever is true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report—let my mind rest upon these things.

Let Your Word remain in me even while my body rests.

Restore my soul.

Renew my strength.

Refresh my mind.

Let my sleep be peaceful and restorative.

PREPARE ME FOR TOMORROW

Father, if You grant me another day, prepare me tonight for what You have ordained tomorrow.

Give me wisdom for decisions I do not yet know I will have to make.

Give me strength for challenges I do not yet know I will face.

Give me discernment concerning people I will encounter.

Prepare divine connections.

Order my steps.

Arrange circumstances according to Your will.

Close every door that would move me outside Your purpose.

Open every door necessary for obedience to Your assignment.

Prepare my heart before opportunity arrives.

Prepare my character before increase arrives.

Prepare my wisdom before responsibility arrives.

Prepare my spirit before warfare arrives.

Prepare my obedience before instruction arrives.

And when morning comes, let me rise ready to abide in You again.

MY EVENING ALIGNMENT

Father, before I sleep, I ask You:

Where did I see Your hand today?

Where did I obey You today?

Where did I resist You today?

Did anything enter my heart today that should not remain overnight?

Did I offend anyone whom I need to make things right with?

Am I holding anything against anyone?

Did my words glorify You?

Did my decisions agree with Your Word?

Did I steward my time properly?

Did I steward my resources properly?

Did I love people as Christ commanded me?

Did I produce fruit today?

What are You teaching me through today's experiences?

What must I release before tomorrow begins?

Holy Spirit, reveal the truth to me.

Do not merely make me aware—make me responsive.

Whatever You expose, give me grace to address.

Whatever You correct, give me humility to receive.

Whatever You instruct, give me courage to obey.

I SURRENDER THE NIGHT TO YOU

Father, I surrender again:

My mind to Your peace. My heart to Your cleansing. My offenses to Your grace. My failures to Your mercy. My victories to Your glory. My unanswered questions to Your wisdom. My unfinished work to Your hands. My family to Your protection. My body to Your restoration. My tomorrow to Your providence. My entire life to Your purpose.

Jesus, I began this day depending upon You, and I refuse to end it independently of You.

You are still the Vine.

I am still the branch.

Tonight, I remain in You.

I declare that I belong to Jesus Christ.

His blood has redeemed me.

His Word governs me.

His Spirit leads me.

His grace sustains me.

His peace guards me.

His presence surrounds me.

His purpose is being accomplished in me.

His character is being formed in me.

And His fruit will continue to develop through my life.

I will not fear the night.

I will not carry anxiety into my sleep.

I will not allow offense to remain in my heart.

I will not allow failure to define me.

I will not allow yesterday to govern tomorrow.

I have examined this day.

I have confessed where necessary.

I have forgiven where necessary.

I have given thanks.

I have released my burdens.

And now I rest.

Your Word declares, "I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me."

Therefore, Father, as I lay down tonight, sustain me.

Restore what has been depleted.

Renew what has become weary.

Strengthen what has become weak.

And if You grant me another morning, let me awaken with a clean heart, a renewed mind, a refreshed body, a discerning spirit, and a fresh desire to abide in Christ.

Tonight I rest in the confidence that the God who kept me through this day will keep me through this night.

Father, receive glory from the day I have lived, sanctify the night before me, and prepare me for the day that is coming.

In the name of Jesus Christ,

Amen.
